The CEHL scholarship is coming up awarding $2,000 to co-op members to further their education.

In 2020 I began a CERT IV in Mental Health/Peer Work, I was successful in my application for the CEHL scholarship which helped me enormously.

The scholarship couldn't have come at a better time, particularly in regard to the high cost of living during this pandemic.

The scholarship helped me out to pay for books, levies, some technology required, as well as food, travel and utility costs. This enabled me to study without our usual budget being diminished, which was of great benefit to me and my child.

The Cert IV has helped by linking me in with like minded people during the pandemic, and an internship with a leading mental health organisation.  With the completed qualification, I aim to support clients (as a Mental Health Peer Worker) through their experience of mental illness in a holistic way, which will include other teams and support as well as skills I have been trained in.  I will be drawing from my own lived experiences and coping techniques too.

Specifically, the course has revealed to me that having hope is paramount to any person’s recovery.

I am grateful to have received this scholarship, which was such a support through these trying times.  The CEHL study scholarship offers fantastic help to any student and I highly recommend you apply.
