Around June 1995 Jan became a member of Stockaders CERC.  In the early days you became a member before you were housed and you were expected to attend multiple meetings, sometimes in Geelong and Melbourne to learn about CERC living.

In January 1996 Jan chose the house in Lawrence Street, Sebastopol that she and Andre would live in.

Almost immediately Jan was on the Board and remained there almost continually until December 2012. Jan held several roles (in the co-op) from finance, tenant selection, rents officer and finally maintenance.

On or off the Board, Jan always helped with house inspections and working bees. This was on top of her work with Vinnies!

She was extremely generous with her time in support of other directors (even after she became ill).  She had so much experience to pass on, and we really appreciated her support.

Everyone loved Jan, because the members knew she had the best interests of the co-op at heart.  Moreover, earlier members had worked so hard for their houses, that Jan’s attitude was

why wouldn't you give the program your best?

Jan gave her best, always participating in her own way. Above all, Jan was one of the early members who gave Stockaders a friendly, loving spirit, not easy to maintain in a group of diverse personalities.

Thank you, Jan, we will miss you.
