Taking action on Aboriginal Cultural Safety
NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life.
The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. NAIDOC week events are shared on the NAIDOC website.
While there is much to celebrate about the breadth and depth of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island culture and heritage, there is a lot to do to address injustices in our communities today.
Aboriginal people living in Victoria experience severe housing disadvantage. The Community Housing Sector is committed to ending that disadvantage and have developed the Community Housing Aboriginal Cultural Safety Framework.
This year CEHL will start the process to plan and implement the CHIA Vic Aboriginal Cultural Safety Framework. We look forward to the positive changes this framework will bring.
