CEHL is excited to announce the recent completion of our new development at Thornbury!

Our Thornbury development project was designed implementing the CEHL Design Guidelines to create homes that provide quality, liveable housing for our co-ops and members.

This development consists of 2 x 3-bedroom, 2 bathroom + 1 car space townhouses located within close proximity of the local primary school, public transport and nearby to a range of lifestyle amenities including Preston Market, thriving High St and Darebin Creek walking trails.

Each townhouse offers:

  • Brick veneer construction
  • 6 Star Energy Rating
  • Heating/cooling
  • Private secure open spaces
  • Low maintenance & energy efficient selections
  • Secure off-street parking
  • NBN provision

These two household outcomes were facilitated via the handback of this property by Access CERC which has resulted in two brand new dwellings within the Metro North region that would otherwise have required significant capital investment to acquire.

An Expressions of Interest allocation process was run by the Program Development & Projects team in July/August which resulted in three co-ops submitting an application for these properties. Consideration was given to FDP plans and how these co-ops future property aspirations aligned with these properties. The successful co-ops, being Liberty CERC and Merri CERC, were then allocated the properties upon completion of the development. We hope that the recent lifting of restrictions in Melbourne has enabled some very happy (COVID-safe) housewarmings to take place!

The Real Estate Services team is continuing to work to deliver on co-op needs to provide quality, liveable, affordable housing guided by completed FDP plans. Developments such as this are delivered in locations where the Real Estate Services team has been able to facilitate an outcome informed by co-op FDP plans (referred to within the team as ‘the voice of the co-ops’).

If you’re keen to have your co-op’s voice heard in relation to your co-ops housing needs and aspirations please get in touch with your Co-operative Development Coordinator - the more voices we hear, enables Real Estate Services to deliver informed outcomes to support co-op’s and the program.

We welcome your feedback on this development and look forward to sharing our 2021 development pipeline in the next edition (spoiler: it’s jampacked)!
