Gordon was born and educated in Mount Gambier South Australia with a European and Indigenous Australian heritage (Elder within the Boandik Nation).  He is married with two adult children and four grandchildren and excelled in sport, particularly swimming and has been a single figure golfer for 45 years!

Gordon served in the South Australian police department as a police officer has been an insurance representative, workplace trainer and assessor.   His family was often on the move and relocated into many and varied forms of rental properties throughout South Australia.

"Initially we were housed with the SA Housing trust (similar to Housing Commission VIC) then with re-location due to employment opportunities we rented privately.   In 1994 we took up an opportunity to move to Geelong for work and family reasons."  said Gordon.

"We discovered the housing market was extremely tight and that there was a huge waiting period for Department of Housing. One of my wife’s workmates suggested we look at CEHL as an alternative rental option. We applied, attended an initial training program and on completion we were successful in being placed on the CEHL waiting list in 2000, finally being interviewed and accepted into the Geelong West CERC in May 2002."

Gordon was Chair of the co-op for eight years and had roles in tenant selection, policy director, maintenance director and the CEHL liaison officer.  Gordon was the co-op selected member of S.W.A.C (South Western Association of CERC’s) Vice Chairman and is currently completing a second year of a two-year term as CEHL co-op elected director on the CEHL Board, and was re-elected un-opposed for another two-year term at the CEHL Annual General Meeting in November 2020.

Gordon has a passion for safe, affordable housing options for the community, and seeing people most at risk and needing housing enjoy the fulfillment of being housed.

"I hope to continue being a strong advocate for this cause.  It is refreshing to see the culmination recently of a huge cash injection from the government."
