Making it easier for an immediate rent assessment

CEHL has taken steps today to make it easier to have an immediate rent re-assessment for households affected by changes to their income.

Some households have experienced immediate changes to their income, as a result of Government measures to support the health and safety of the community during COVID-19 (Coronavirus).  CEHL is aware that it may be more difficult for members to complete the current rent review and provide income evidence (complete the Household Information Form HIF).

To assist, CEHL . . .

  • encourages members to immediately seek income support from Centrelink, if your income has been affected
  • will immediately reassess household rent, to reflect reduced incomes
  • have changed our processes to make sure no‐one is disadvantaged if they can’t get the right paperwork from Centrelink, quickly
  • are prioritising rent assessments for those affected

Follow diagram to find out what to do. . .

Households do not need to notify CEHL if they have received any supplementary payments, see  'Income supplements and CEHL rent assessments , 25 March 2020 for more details.

Households who lodge a Household Information Form with income evidence are requested to update CEHL if their gross income changes by more than $50 per week.

Income evidence will be reviewed at a later date, when evidence is more easily available.

Households will be contacted during July-September 2020 to review individual circumstances.
